Japanese language volunteers provide one-on-one Japanese lessons for foreign residents who need to learn the language.
Anyone over 18 years old native speakers of Japanese ( or at the same level) can participate. No license is needed. To participate in the activity, you should register for MISHOP membership.
In principle, volunteers offer lessons once a week for approximately 1 to 2 hours. Location and content of lessons are decided by the pairs. In principle, lessons are conducted in the MISHOP lounge, which is available (without reservations) from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
MISHOP has no set curriculum for the lessons. As they are tailored to meet the needs of the student, each course of study differs. Volunteers are asked to discuss the particular needs of the students at the start and offer them as much language support as is possible. There are textbooks and materials (CDs) available for use in the lounge. In addition, there will be opportunities to get advice from experienced volunteers.
LLJ volunteers and prospective students are paired by schedules and availability.
MISHOP offers lectures on “An Introduction to Japanese Language Teaching.” Volunteers are encouraged to attend.
Please inquire about registering for this activity at the MISHOP office.
In principle, only those foreign residents who live, study, or work in Mitaka City or neighboring cities or wards may register for this service.
